The main festival venue is set around Kočevsko Lake, a place where nature and remnants of old industry still quietly compete for space. Just a few steps from the town center, you enter an area where the forest muffles the noise and the water cools even your thoughts.
The festival hub lies beside the popular turquoise lake, from where trails immediately branch out toward the hills and forests. The venue is close enough to the center of Kočevje that you’ll never feel completely cut off from civilization.
If you’re coming to Kočevsko Outdoor Festival, here’s what you need to know:
Main Festival Venue
The central area is an open lakeside space where you’ll find registrations, bib pick-up, all starts and finishes (except the start of the 30 km route), award ceremonies, the expo area and evening program.
Here you’ll find:
the festival shop and stalls of outdoor equipment providers,
a warm meal after your run and a social area,
the award stage and a rock concert,
multiple water stations,
toilets and showers nearby.
The venue is organized, easy to navigate and accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Around Kočevsko Lake you’ll discover viewpoints, small piers and grassy areas for resting, cool-down spots after your run, a small bar and quiet corners for relaxing right by the water. The water is cold and clear; swimming is allowed at your own risk.
During the event, access to the lake is pedestrian only.
How to get to Kočevje?
Getting to Kočevje is simple. The town is well connected to the rest of Slovenia, but during the festival we recommend the following options:
Bus: Regular lines run from Ljubljana (approx. 1h 27min).
The Kočevje bus station is a 15–20 minute walk from the venue.
Carpooling: Sharing a ride is always a great idea—if you have space in your car, offer it to someone who needs a lift.
Parking
The nearest parking area is 4–6 minutes on foot from the main venue. Parking is also available in the town of Kočevje, 10–15 minutes from the lake.
Please follow the instructions of event marshals.
Four-legged friends are welcome
Dogs are welcome, but must remain on a leash and under the owner’s control at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
The organizer does not assume responsibility for any incidents. * Dogs may accompany their owners on the 5 km route, provided that forest etiquette is respected.
