Bear watching in Kočevsko
Kočevsko offers a primeval experience of the forest, where you can feel the immense power of nature. It is one of the most forested areas in Europe, as almost 90% of the area is covered by forests, in which all three big beasts can still be found: the brown bear, the wolf and the Eurasian lynx. Slovenia is one of the countries with the highest bear population density in the world, and the majority of these bears are found precisely in the forests of Kočevsko-Notranjska region.
The forests of Kočevsko are shared by many inhabitants, including the brown bear. It is wise to keep in mind recommendations on how to behave and act when visiting the forest. How to react when encountering a bear?
